What is CPCS?
CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) is a card scheme created to reflect and showcase the competence of plant operating personnel. Launched in the year 2003, CPCS is a standard to show how competent a plant worker is.
CPCS was started due to requests put forward by several employers in the UK. It is controlled and run by the authority CITB (Construction Industry Training Board). The main objective of creating CPCS Is to standardize different practices for plant operatives throughout the country.
The courses must all be taken at a registered training centre.
What is NPORS?
NPORS is the alternative to the CPCS accreditation. The card lasts for 2 years (red card) or 5 years (blue card) from the day you successfully complete the assessments.
The NPORS operator registration card is produced for an individual who has successfully completed practical and knowledge assessments on the categories shown on the back of the card.
The courses can be on your own site. For the latter, your site must meet NPORS specification for the category (available upon request) and you must also have the correct items of plant and equipment on site.
